Hello team One of our PTP 2025 alumni wrote the below piece about the complexities of international touring. It is extremely insightful and relevant for national touring too (in my opinion). Kath has asked me to forward to you all too! I wanted to share a piece of writing that's come out of some research I undertook late last year, and thought you might be interested. Drawing on my experiences at the 2025 Performing Arts Market in Seoul, as well as interviews, observations, and research undertaken during my three-month producing fellowship in Taiwan, the article reflects on how political instability, climate constraints, and post-COVID realities are reshaping the conditions for touring. I argue that crisis is no longer an exception but the operating context, and that many traditional touring models no longer align with the realities facing small-to-medium companies. This first piece sets up the key questions that will guide the series, with a focus on sustainability, reciprocity, and relationship-led international collaboration. If you are interested, you can read the full article here: https://www.belloocreative.com/blog/2026/1/30/article-1-why-look-at-internat... I hope to see some of you at APAM soon!
